Minicoy Beach Lakshadweep
Where?
Minicoy is the second largest island after andrott. This island is 398 kms from Cochin. It is 10.6 kms long.
Why Minicoy?
Minicoy has largest lagoon in Lakshadweep. The culture of minicoy is absolutely different from that of northern island of Lakshadweep. "Jahadhoni” are race boats, which add to tourist attraction here. Do visit a 300-foot tall lighthouse build by british in 1885. Minicoy is Major destination for water sports. This islet is more developed than most isles in Lakshadweep. It’s a crescent shaped island with loads of water sports, sunbathing, boating adventures etc.
What else?
You can also visit a small-inhabited island call Viringili on southern side of minicoy. Minicoy is a group of 11 villages called “Ava'h" whose heads are elected by the resident and are called Bodukaka. Minicoy is known for its traditional dance, which is performed on festivals. Minicoy has a matriarchal society, which becomes an interest for anthropology.
How do I get there?
If you wish to reach the island by air then Indian Airlines flights operate except Sunday. The closest airport is at Agatti and Bangaram. You can take boats from various islands in Lakshadweep to Minicoy. Or you can take cruise from Mumbai. There is no rail and road transport as it is an island.

You can stay at cottages, hotels etc which are available here. They are well maintained and assure that the food they serve clean and hygienic food.
What do I carry?
it is necessary to carry handy cam to capture these beautiful moments. Apart from that do carry sunscreen lotion. Do carry your preferred brand of medicine, cigarettes, cosmetics etc with you, as only local brands is available.
