Agatti Beach Lakshadweep
Where?
Agatti is one of the main cities of Lakshadweep. The exact location of Agatti is 10 degree 51' north latitude and 72 degree11' east latitude. Agatti is the more westerly than any other island of Lakshadweep. It is approximately 5.6 kms in length and 1000 meters wide.
Why Agatti?
Agatti has the most beautiful lagoon on the western borders. In the semi-transparent turquoise green aqua you will be able to see colorful fishes and stunning coral growth. Several fissures in the reef result in the ripples, which are formed on the beach. These ripples are used for coir soaking. Fine house for anopheles worms are formed when husks are put in fresh water. Since there are lot of tiny species, which live upon insects therefore mosquitoes, are rarely seen here. You will definitely enjoy fishing on this island. Mostly people live in north portion of this island, which is broad. The island is densely planted with coconut.
What else?
Cod liver oil is produced in small-scale industry. Those belonging to other islands colonized this island much later. There is an economic pressure due to class division. the wahabi sect of Islam is highly followed by people of this region.
How do I get there?
If you wish to reach the island by air then Indian Airlines flights operate except Sunday. There is an airport at Agatti. Or you can take cruise from Mumbai. There is no rail and road transport as it is an island.

You can stay at cottages, hotels etc which are available here. They are well maintained and assure that the food they serve is clean and hygienic .
What do I carry?
Do carry a good camera or a handycam to capture the beauty of Agatti. Don’t forget your medicines and essentials as very few stores retail mostly local brand. You may not find your favorite brand of toothpaste here.
