Geography of Andaman & Nicobar islands
The one of union territory of India is Andaman & Nicobar Islands. It is situated in the sourthern juction of Bay of Bengal and India Ocean. The Andaman Sea which is 150km wide seperates the two group island -the Andaman Islands and the Nicobar. The Andaman lies to the north of 10° N parallel, where as Nicobar lies to the south. The capital of this group of beaches is Port blair which is at 11.68° N 92.77° E.The total area covered by both of these beautiful group of becahes is 8249km2 approximately(Andaman- 6,408 km2 ,Nicobar-1,841 km2.) and the population is 3,56,152 as per 2001 census of India.
The Andaman is collective of 550 islands and the Nicobar is 22 main islands. But in Andaman only 38 are permanantly resided where as in Nicobar it is 12 islands which are permantly resided.
